Professional Journey:

I have been a professional Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2012, mostly serving the rural area. My style is direct, practical, nurturing, challenging, strength based and eclectic. I feel that I'm a pretty easy going person and look forward to meeting you. 

​I specialize in identifying your negative thoughts and beliefs, connecting your past to your present to build a more authentic future and assist you on learning coping and life skills to manage your overall mental health. 

​Whether you've been in therapy before or you're looking for a new therapist for the first time, finding a therapist that is right for you can be daunting. I believe that success of therapy begins with the relationship with your therapist, it's all about the fit. I love working with a variety of people and concerns. I have experience in trauma work and am trained in a variety of modalities to fit what's best for you. 

Academic Accomplishments:

I graduated from Capella University in 2012 with my Master's in Mental Health Counseling with Magna cum laude and Chi Sigma Iota (International honor society) honors.

I graduated from Buena Vista University in 2008, double majoring in Psychology and Human Services. I went back to BVU in 2017 to complete the graduate level School Counseling course requirements.

I graduated from Des Moines Area Community College with my Associates of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2005 and was part of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society. During my time at DMACC, I had the privilege of studying abroad to London, where I attended the University of London to complete educational requirements. 

​Some fun personal info: 

When I'm not working, I'm most likely to be with my son, my husband, family and/or friends.  I love to travel and explore anywhere, music of most kinds, attending rock concerts, doing outdoorsy stuff, collecting rock and crystals, pineapple on my pizza, chocolate, gardening attempts, Vincent Van Gogh and Salvador Dali, Superhero's, Iowa Hawkeyes and Documentary Series, Dateline Podcasts to just name a few.
